ABC Daycare

ABC Daycare is located in the specially designed Annex Building and has recently been renovated to give it a more homely feel. The nursery offer a choice of either full day sessions (7.30-6) or shorter morning (7.30-1) and afternoon sessions (1-6) for all children. We also offer sessions for children wishing to access the 15 or 30 hours funding for 3 and 4 year olds, and have places available for children eligible for early education funding for 2 year olds.

We currently have 3 different options available for people accessing the 3 and 4 year old funding, these include:

  1. 15 hours per week, school term time only, this can be taken alongside school or for children that are not eligible for 30 hours.

  2. 25 hours a week all year round, except summer holidays and the week we are closed at Christmas. This is equivalent to 30 hours term time only.

  3. 30 hours per week term time only. This offer is limited to 8 children per day and is done on a first come basis.

Our children are cared for in three rooms, separated by age group. All our rooms have access to our large, secure outdoor area, which is used daily, where they have access to large play equipment as well as sand, water, and our ever popular mud kitchen.

Whilst at Nursery we follow the Early Years Foundation Stage which focuses on the areas of learning and development, we then organise activities that promote these skills:

  • Personal, Social and Emotional Development

  • Communication and Language

  • Physical Development

  • Mathematics

  • Understanding the World

  • Expressive arts and design

  • Literacy

To develop these skills the daily activities may include:

  • Creative Art

  • Imaginative and Constructive Play

  • Regular Story Time

  • Singing Sessions

  • Sand and Water Play

  • Free Play

  • Outdoor play

Your child’s skills and progress is then recorded electronically on a system called Tapestry, this is regularly reviewed to ensure that your child’s needs are met through effective planning of activities. Tapestry allows family to view what the children have been doing at nursery and allows them to comment on their learning. We feel that parent partnerships are very important and encourage family members to share observations about what the children have been doing at home.
